Three years ago Philippe Varin, took over at Corus when they were in some financial difficulty. At the time of his appointment he invested £179,000 of his own money in 1.1m Corus shares. Now at that time such an investment might have been considered as safe as giving your bank details to the son of a recently deceased Nigerian oil minister.
Well as part of the deal, three years on Mr. Varin has received a further 1.1m shares. Considering the original shares were worth 16.3p and now stand at 84½p that adds up as they say to “a nice little earner”.
Now all we need is a spot of “take-over” fever …………
