Back in 2000 the EU issued a range of standards to rationlise the various steel classifications that applied in the individual member states. Whilst the new standards were designed to supercede the National equivalents in some countries, and particularly in the UK , steel users have been slow to adapt.
Six years on however it is increasingly difficult to find companies producing to the old British standard BS1449.
