Louisiana and Alabama have been competeing for some time now to woo German Steelmaker ThyssenKrupp for a major new steel investment.
"German steel-maker ThyssenKrupp said Monday that it will pick a winner by midmorning Friday for what is billed as one of the largest industrial projects in U.S. history.
The company issued a brief statement Monday in which it said its supervisory board will meet Friday in Dusseldorf, Germany, to consider the plant location — either along the Mississippi River in St. James Parish near Convent or on the Tombigbee River in Mt. Vernon, Ala., about 25 miles north of Mobile.
ThyssenKrupp AG … will release details of the board’s actions following the meeting,” the statement read."
