AK Steel idling mills in Ohio, Kentucky

The company expects to idle the blast furnace and steelmaking, casting and coating operations at its Ashland, Ky., mill later this month. The Ashland Works employs about 1,100 hourly and salaried workers, though 275 employees at the company’s coke plant will stay on to run the facility at a reduced level.
