Tata Steel looking for Western Acquisitions

Tata Steel is looking at acquiring steel plants in the United States and Europe. It is also pursuing acquisition possibilities in South Africa, CNBC-TV18 reports.
Since December 2004, Tata Steel has acquired two steel companies in South East Asia, one in Singapore and the other in Thailand. While it integrates the two acquired units with its own operation in India, Tata Steel is planning to buy more companies in South East Asia, and many are now willing to sell out.
"Other companies are seeing so they have started talking to us, to come and have a look at our plant. We are also interested, so we are shortlisting those companies, which will fit into our way of thinking," said T Mukherjee, Deputy Managing Director (Steel), Tata Steel.
