Salzgitter AG said it still intends to investigate the potential for an industrial cooperation with Canada's Algoma Steel Inc although talks between the two companies regarding a possible takeover have been terminated.
Salzgitter announced that no binding takeover bid will be issued 'for the time being', but a company statement added: 'It is intended to investigate the potential for an industrial cooperation.'
A spokesman for Salzgitter said 'The talks are over, but there are lots of possibilities, and the door is still open for cooperation with Algoma Steel.'
